The tropical garden is a the pride of the hotel and testament to the care taken with every detail of the hotel. The exotic trees, shrubs and plants offer a wonderful area to have an afternoon break, or to take meals. Childre n will enjoy wandering around the garden – the turtle pool is one of their favourite areas, but should be supervised.
Perhaps one of the outstanding features is the lotus pool. The Egyptian Blue Lotus – appearing in most pharaonic wall paintings and reliefs is almost extinct in Egypt, but a German landscape gardener imported seedlings from which the blue lotus has found a new home at the Amon Hotel.
If you are a keen gardener or just interested in exotic plants, then the Amon is definitely the only hotel for you in Luxor – no other hotel offers such a tropical garden with such a range of species.
Most of the rooms overlook the garden, and it surely must be a pleasure to wake in the morning and look out onto the central courtyard to see the carefully maintained gardens.
The gardens have an almost surreal atmosphere – it is hard to believe that such gardens can be found in modern day Egypt.
The ancient Egyptians would have been pleasantly surprised to see such a garden – they loved their gardens, which provided shade in the glare of the sun.
With such beautiful gardens, it is no surprise that many guests to take all of their meals in between the rare and unusual plants, flowers and trees.
